Leading the Supercar Boom

Automobili Lamborghini has continuously produced legendary cars such as the 350GT, Miura, Countach, Diablo, and Huracán. In the 2000s, the company also began focusing on environmental considerations, working to reduce CO2 emissions and monitoring pollution levels in the areas surrounding its production sites to contribute to local environmental preservation. As an automaker, Lamborghini aims to introduce fully electric models by 2030.

Founded in 1963 by Ferruccio Lamborghini, who originally ran a tractor-manufacturing business, the company boldly transitioned into the luxury sports car market. This ambitious endeavor proved successful, and following the launch of the 350GT in the year after its establishment, Lamborghini continued to introduce groundbreaking new models. The futuristic designs of the Miura and Countach stunned the world and played a key role in driving Japan’s first supercar boom. Over time, Lamborghini expanded its lineup, even producing off-road vehicles like the Lamborghini Militaria. The company has also proactively engaged in environmental preservation efforts.

Various Environmental Initiatives

In 2009, Lamborghini became the first automaker to obtain EMAS environmental certification. The following year, in 2010, the company installed a solar power generation system at its factory, achieving an annual CO2 reduction of 1,000 tons. In 2011, Lamborghini planted 10,000 oak trees on an adjacent plot of land and opened the "Lamborghini Park." In 2012, the newly constructed building for vehicle development became the first high-rise industrial facility in Italy to receive Class A energy certification.

In 2015, Lamborghini introduced an energy and heating system at its factory, which reduced annual CO2 emissions by approximately 1,800 tons. This initiative also led to the factory obtaining CO2-neutral certification. In 2021, the company further introduced a biomethane facility to supply electricity, allowing it to reduce CO2 emissions from 37% to approximately 80%, equivalent to over 11,000 cubic meters. Due to these efforts, Lamborghini received the Green Star Award, which recognizes companies most committed to environmental issues, in both 2021 and 2022.

Additionally, in 2016, Lamborghini established a beekeeping facility within the Lamborghini Park to begin environmental monitoring through honeybee activity. The company has also been monitoring pollution levels in the vicinity of its production sites. In 2022, CEO Stephan Winkelmann hosted the environmental event "Lamborghini Sustainable Days," reaffirming the company's commitment to sustainability.

Environmental Roadmap "Cor Tauri"

Lamborghini's environmental roadmap is called "Cor Tauri," meaning "Heart of the Bull," reflecting the company’s emblem. This program aims for full electrification of Lamborghini’s lineup and is structured in three phases. Until 2022, the company continued developing internal combustion engine models to honor its legacy. In 2023, Lamborghini launched its first hybrid model, and by the end of 2024, it plans to begin electrifying its entire lineup. By 2030, the company intends to introduce a fully electric model.

Starting in early 2025, Lamborghini will allocate over €1.5 billion—the largest investment in its history—over four years to achieve a 50% reduction in CO2 emissions.

Moving Towards Electrification

The limited-production hybrid model Sián FKP 37, unveiled in 2019, marked Lamborghini’s initial step toward electrification. In 2023, the company celebrated its 60th anniversary by launching its first High-Performance Electrified Vehicle (HPEV), the "Revuelto," officially shifting its focus toward electrification.

The Revuelto is equipped with a newly developed 12-cylinder engine and three high-density electric motors, delivering a total output of 1,015 PS, proving that electrified performance can rival that of traditional internal combustion engines. Following the launch of the Revuelto, Lamborghini achieved record-breaking results in 2023, surpassing 10,000 units sold and generating revenue of €2.66 billion—more than double that of 2017.

Since its founding, Lamborghini has consistently taken on bold challenges. With the golden bull as its emblem, the brand is charging forward on a new path. The world will be watching as this raging bull continues its journey into the future.
